Ghanaian midfielder, Saliw Babawo has revealed how exited he is to work under Diego Maradona as his new chairman at Dynamo Brest in the Belarusian topflight.

The Argentine icon penned down a three-year deal with the Belorussian club, Dynamo Brest as their new chairman this year.

The former Sekondi Hasaacas midfielder said in an interview that, it is a great opportunity to work under a legend like Diego Maradona.

“It is a great opportunity working under a legend like him” Saliw told Footballmadeinghana.com.

Diego Maradona was the head coach of Argentina in their 2010 FIFA World Cup which was hosted by South African.

An astute businessman and a prolific polo player, Alhaji Jamil Ibrahim has unanimously been elected as the new captain of the Accra Polo Club.
Founded in 1902, the Accra Polo Club is counted among some of the oldest sporting clubs in the country. Taking over from captain, Ricky Khoubchindani, Alhaji Jamil has been an active Polo player who has served the club in many executive positions spanning over a 17-year period.
Following in the footsteps of his father Alhaji Yusif Ibrahim, chairman of GT Bank who captained the Accra Polo Club some 23 years ago, captain Jamil has distinguished himself as a devoted servant of the club.
Captain Jamil is a man with a wealth of experience in corporate governance. He is the Group CEO of Dara Salam Group Limited, Director of Danso Foods Ghana, a member of the Dangote Group.
He is also a director at Advance Maritime Transport (AMT) Ghana and holds many other positions in well-established companies in Ghana and abroad. In his acceptance speech, Captain Jamil promised an exciting 2018/19 Polo season and thanked the polo fraternity for the overwhelming confidence reposed in him.

Reigning WBO Super Bantamweight champion, Isaac Dogboe says his primary target when he steps into the ring on August 25, 2018 to fight Japanese boxer, Hidenori Otake is to sell a good fight and provide entertainment to the thousands of people who will be staying awake to catch the fight.

Dogboe hopes to make a successful first defence of his WBO Super Bantamweight belt when he takes on the 37-year-old Japanese at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.

Speaking at a pre-bout press conference held at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra on Friday, August 3, 2018, the 23-year-old boxer assured Ghanaians of victory and promised them of a knockout should the opportunity avail itself in the course of his 12 round bout with Otake.

Dogboe whiles acknowledging the strength and impressive records of his opponent maintains that he’s got enough weapons in his arsenal to overcome him.

The Royal Storm, who has clearly done his research on his opponent, pointed out some of the strengths of Otake but kept his plans of neutralizing those threats to his chest.

“Otake is gonna come out strong. I know he is a strong guy and he’s gonna come out determined come August 23. All we have to do is to just keep focus and keep to the game plan. Our game plans is to sell this fight. Most at times I go in there for the kill but now we are thinking of having more fun. I want to tell all Ghanaians to pray and support me”.
“When the knockout presents itself we are going to take it but we are not going out there to chase it. Otake, 37, is from Tokyo, Japan and he has a fight record of 36 bouts with 31 victories, 2 draws and 3 losses. He has not lost a bout since 2015, putting together 9 wins between then and now.

Dogboe won the belt from Jessie Magdelano in April and has a record of 19 victories from 19 fights with 13 being knockouts.

Kotoko defender, Daniel Darkwa

Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender Daniel Darkwa is crying for help to treat his shoulder injury after doctors charged him 10,000 cedis for surgery.

Darkwah who signed for Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the beginning of the season has been injured for sometime now, and medical experts are demanding 10,000 cedis before they treat him.

Source close to footballmadeinghana.com told us that the medical team of the club have informed the Executive chairman but nothing has been done about it.

According to insiders, whenever they go to club secratariant to see the Executive chairman, his secretary will tell them he is not around. The player has now been left helpless and dejected.

As to when the money will be paid for the treatment of the player, time and tide will tell.

Chelsea's Pedro signs one-year contract extension

Chelsea playmaker Pedro has signed a one-year contract extension to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2020, the Premier League club has said.

The 31-year-old, a World Cup and European Championships winner with Spain, joined Chelsea in 2015 and has since made 131 appearances across all competitions, winning the league title in 2017 and the FA Cup last term.

"It's important for me to continue with Chelsea, I am comfortable here and want to win new titles and trophies. I want to help the team, score goals, and I repeat, I am really happy," Pedro told the club's website.

The Spaniard previously played for La Liga club Barcelona, where he made more than 300 appearances and collected around 20 titles, including three Champions League triumphs.

Chelsea play league champions Manchester City in the Community Shield on Sunday, six days before travelling to Huddersfield Town for their opening league fixture on Aug. 11.

Kotoko to take on Simba FC in international friendly

Tanzanian side Simba SC will engage Kumasi Asante Kotoko in friendly on August 8 as they celebrate their 82nd anniversary.

Asante Kotoko were announced as opponent for this year's anniversary at a press conference held on Tuesday morning.

The Ghana Premier League side also confirmed their invitation for this year's #SimbaDay match on their official twitter account.

"Asante Kotoko will be travelling to Tanzania to play Simba S.C on Wednesday, 8 August 2018, in honor of their SIMBA DAY celebration." the club's official statement.

Simba SC have three Ghanaian players in their set-up namely James Kotei, Nicholas Gyan and Akwasi Asante.

Newcastle complete signing of Japan forward Muto

Newcastle United have signed Japan forward Yoshinori Muto from Mainz on a four-year contract, the Premier League side announced on Thursday (August 2).

Newcastle said last week that they had reached an agreement with the Bundesliga club for the transfer. Muto's move was completed on Thursday after he was granted a work permit.

"I'm honoured to be a player for such a big club," Muto, the first Japanese player to join Newcastle, said.

British media reports said Muto's transfer fee was around 9.5 million pounds.

"I hope to achieve good results, that's what I'm here to do. I would like to perform well and leave my name in Newcastle's history," Muto added.

Muto, 26, is Newcastle's fourth permanent signing of the close season following goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, midfielder Ki Sung-yueng and defender Fabian Schar.

Newcastle begin their league campaign by hosting Tottenham Hotspur at St James' Park on Aug. 11.
