Nathaniel Attoh nominated for 2018 Glitz Style Awards

Joy Sports anchor and editor, Nathaniel Attoh, has been nominated for the 2018 edition of the Glitz Style Awards.

This will be the presenter’s third nomination for the prestigious awards scheme. He received nomination for best media personality of the year.

The celebrated master of ceremonies (MC) is competing with Berla Mundi, Nana Aba Anamoah and Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD) for the award.

The annual Glitz Style Awards celebrates individuals setting trends and raising standards with their fashion style.

The awards, slated for Saturday, September 1, 2018, also seek to strengthen the growing fashion industry by establishing, developing and promoting international industry standards here in Ghana.

The event, according to the organisers, is an opportunity for the fashion industry to celebrate and promote the extraordinary creative talents in Ghana and across the African continent.

There will be two honourary awards this year – business leader of the year and Glitz Africa style icon.

To select the winners, the organisers approached over 200 members of the fashion industry to vote for the front runners of this year’s accolades.

The voting guests mostly include industry players, journalists, fashion and entertainment bloggers, stylists, influencers and fashion icons.

“Just like the previous years, the general public will also have the chance to have their voices heard by voting for their favourites via social media i.e. Instagram and Facebook,” Glitz Africa said.

FIFA took the best decision at the right time – Palmer

Osei Kweku Palmer2
Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer, Black Stars Management Committee Chairman
Executive committee member of the under fire Ghana Football Association, Wilfred Osei has revealed FIFA’s letter to the government of Ghana is a set in the right direction to restore football in the country.

The world football governing body, FIFA has written to the government of Ghana to withdraw its petition to liquidate the assets of the Ghana Football Association after they were granted an injunction on the activities of the association.

“I was very excited when I saw the letter from FIFA because it reechoes what I have always stood for. Government has no right to liquidate the Association because we belong to a mother body which does not deal with government. It was wrong for government to petition the court in the first place”, Palmer said.

The accounting brain turn football administrator revealed the assets the government through the Attorney General seeks to liquidate were built by FIFA hence government has no right over them.

“FIFA has only recognized that liquidation is not the right way to go and they own most of the assets of the Association. I know FIFA will follow up with a road map for the way to go in restoring football”.

Messi sets new Barcelona trophy record with Supercopa win

Lionel Messi became the most successful player in Barcelona in history on Sunday as he helped the Catalans to a thrilling Supercopa victory over Sevilla.

And that lack of playing time seemed to take its toll on Messi and his team-mates early on, when Pablo Sarabia converted to give Sevilla the lead.

Barca hit back, however, with Leo in the thick of the action as usual.

The captain's free-kick rebounded via the woodwork into the path of Gerard Pique, who turned in to level the scores at the end of the first half.

Ousmane Dembele later made it 2-1 with a thumping long-range finish, while Sevilla squandered a golden chance to equalise when Wissam Ben Yedder saw his penalty saved in the final seconds.

As Andres Iniesta's successor as Blaugrana captain, it fell on Messi to lift the Supercopa trophy, a landmark achievement for the amazing Argentine.

That win means Messi has now lifted 33 titles during his Barcelona career, more than any other player in the club's history.

That haul includes four Champions League wins, nine La Liga crowns and six Copas del Rey, as well as a record five Ballons d'Or.

And while Messi may need a few more matches to drop back into his scintillating regular form, it would take a brave man to bet against the 31-year-old star adding to that collection by the end of the current season.
